January 2026
4-minute read
Hi Friends,

Happy New Year!

We hope your 2026 is filled with arbuscular mycorrhizae, adequate levels of plant-available manganese, and bountiful harvests of exceptionally high-quality crops.

In today's newsletter, we have news about BioCoat Gold, events we'll be attending, opportunities to become AEA distributors, and Prepay discounts.

First, a jaw-dropping success at a Texas nursery using AEA nutrition instead of pesticides.

1.  🪴 Controlling nursery diseases for 1/6 the cost

Regenerative practices are transformative not only for soil-grown crops, but also containerized plants in nurseries.

In fact, regenerative nutrition management can solve a number of problems uniquely faced by plant nurseries, like:
  • Zero tolerance for diseases: nurseries have to scrap diseased plants.
  • Rampant infections: certain diseases can infect 100% of plants once they appear.
  • Potting material can easily develop nutrient deficiencies or excesses, like excess salt from fertilizers.
Magnolia Gardens Nursery, a 160-acre ornamental plant nursery in Texas, was no stranger to these challenges. With the goals of reducing pest and disease pressure and boosting profitability, Magnolia Gardens brought in a new General Manager, Michael Roe, to capitalize on his 7 years of experience successfully using nutrition management with AEA programs at another nursery.

Magnolia trialed an AEA nutritional program with sap analysis on three “problem species” which are notorious for their disease and pest susceptibility.

The program included:
  • Regenerative Soil Primer with added Calcium
    • Rejuvenate™, SeaGuard™, CalGuard™, & Spectrum DS™
  • Monthly Nutritional Foliars
    • SeaStim™, CalGuard™, and MicroPak™ were key ingredients
    • Applied via overhead fertigation
After just 5 months on the AEA program, the results were stark:
  • Massive increase in sap nutrient levels
  • Complete elimination of fungicides and insecticides
  • Reduction in scrapped plants
  • Negligible pest and disease issues in the 3 problem species
The craziest part?
  • All those benefits cost 84% less than the conventional program.
Based on these results, we are confident in saying that every single plant nursery in the country should be using AEA nutrition 😁.

 6. 📸 Photo of the month
James Johnson, of W.R. Johnson & Sons and Carzalia Valley Produce, is a cutting-edge regenerative producer at scale, and a longtime friend, proponent, and customer of AEA. (Podcast fans might remember James sharing his wisdom back in 2021, and from the 100th episode, when he interviewed John Kempf.)

This year, in spite of continued challenging conditions (4 years of drought), they produced cotton yields 2-3x higher than the state average.

Upland Cotton:
  • State average: 2.5 bales
  • Johnson's: 5.5 bales
Pima Cotton:
  • State average: 1.5 bales
  • Johnson's: 4.5 bales
This tracks with the incredible yields, quality, and consistency we've seen with cotton grown on the AEA program, both in the U.S. and internationally.

(For those of you unfamiliar with cotton species, 90% of the cotton grown worldwide is upland (Gossypium hirsutum), while Pima (Gossypium barbadense, known elsewhere as “Egyptian”) is prized for its extra-long fibers)
